What is a « mas »?In Provence a "mas" is a farm house. A "mas" is always oriented South to protect it from the Mistral, the strong wind blowing down the Rhône river valley. There are no openings on the North side and doors and windows are narrow in order to protect it from the heat in the summer and from the cold in the winter. Not all "mas" are farm houses. The very large ones, usually built by the Bourgeois, are called Bastides.
A "mas de ville" tends to reproduce the ambiance of a farm house to give its guests a taste of the rural Provençal living.

"Mas en ville" is located in the heart of Marseilles within a couple of blocks from the Préfecture, at 7 rue des Bergers, 13006 Marseilles.
If you arrive by train,
it is only 10 minutes away from the main Railway Station Gare Saint Charles via the subway.
Line 2 to Sainte Marguerite Dromel, exit at Notre Dame du Mont, head for Cours Julien and take Rue Lodi then turn into the first right. By taxi, it is 10 minutes away from the Saint Charles Railway station.
If you arrive by plane,
it is 25 minutes from Marignane airport or 40 minutes by shuttle to the Saint Charles Railway Station. Then take the subway, line 2 to Sainte Marguerite Dromel, exit at Notre Dame du Mont.
If you arrive by car,
· Via Autoroute du Nord (A7), exit at Gare Saint Charles, follow Boulevard d'Athènes into Boulevard Dugommier, continue on Cours Lieutaud and turn left into rue des Bergers.
· Via Autoroute de l'Est (A 50), enter Marseilles via Boulevard Vincent Delpuech, turn right into rue de Rome and again right via Boulevard Salvator and continue Rue des Bergers
