Patricia and Erik look forward to welcoming you to their gite, l'Embellie Cathare - once the home of a winemaker, with its vibrant Andalucian colours, for 1,2,3... days - or even a week or more.

You will savour dishes of the south- west, or vegetarian specialities (to order), generally using organic products.

L'Embellie Cathare is located in the little village of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse (pop:104), in the Hautes Corbières, a part of France where Europe's great civilizations have all left their mark , surrounded by wild and beautiful Mediterranean scenery, with ancient ruined castles, great wines, and cool, clear natural spring water.

If you really want to discover this country, you should walk the trails the Cathars walked, eight centuries ago.

All around, the natural beauty of the landscape is visible in the jagged outlines of the mediaeval castles of Peyrepertuse and Quéribus; in the forests of live oak, the olive groves, wild fig trees, thyme, rosemary and fragrant lavender. And, not far away, the cool, clear waters of the river Agly that drop down to the Hermitage deep in the spectacular Gorges de Galamus.



On your return to Duihac, relax by the waterfalls and pools of the old mill below the village. Or listen to music while you taste local products.

Various Activities are available close by: hikes, horse riding, mountain-biking, river rafting, climbing, paragliding, quad bike rides, tours of the Cathar castles , museums and churches. And wine and food tasting locally.
